Hiring Roblox Developers — Commissions, Percentages and Red Flags

Where to find builders, scripters and artists, what commissions cost, and how to structure a safe deal.

Where the talent is

The Talent Hub (the platform’s official marketplace) plus community Discord servers and portfolio sites. Evaluate portfolios, not promises: shipped experiences with real visit counts beat concept art every time. Scripters and UI designers are the two roles most games need first.

Commission economics

Standard commissions range widely by skill: entry builders and artists charge tens of dollars, experienced scripters hundreds per system, and top talent thousands or a percentage. Percentage deals (5–20% of game earnings) align incentives but require group-fund transparency — percent of what, paid when, audited how. Percent-of-group-funds with written terms is the professional standard.

The deal structure that avoids disasters

Milestones with partial payment on delivery (50% upfront is a red flag both directions for unknown partners), assets delivered through the platform or with export files you hold, and a written scope: what is built, revision count, delivery date. Never share your account; add collaborators to the group with roles instead.

FAQ

How much does a Roblox scripter cost?

Simple systems run tens of dollars; complex gameplay systems from experienced scripters run hundreds to thousands. Portfolio quality, not hourly rate, is the value signal.

Should I pay 100% upfront?

No. Milestone payments (a third upfront at most, remainder on delivery) protect both sides on a first collaboration.
