Boat repairs: the entry ticket
Willy’s boat at the back of the fish shop needs 200 hardwood, 5 battery packs and 5 iridium bars. That is a late-year-one/early-year-two checklist: hardwood from mahogany stumps and the Secret Woods, battery packs from lightning rods during summer storms, iridium from Skull Cavern deep runs. Once repaired, boat rides cost 1,000g each way — later unlocked as a warp totem target.
Golden walnuts gate everything
The island’s progression currency is 130 golden walnuts hidden across puzzles, digs and monsters. Key unlocks along the way: the island farm (tillable year-round — no winter!), the farmhouse, the dig site, the pirate cove (evening tavern after 100 walnuts), and the Gourmand’s cave. Save walnuts for the farm unlock and QI challenges later.
Why the island ends winter pain
Island crops (pineapple, banana, taro root) grow in every season and the island never has winter — so with sprinklers, your farming income runs 12 months. Stardrops on the island also permanently raise energy. The island is Stardew’s endgame for a reason: it multiplies everything you built in the valley.
