The three settings to enable first
In the account settings of a child account: Account Restrictions (locks the experience catalog to a human-curated, age-appropriate list), chat filtering to a limited experience (the platform’s filter is strong, but restricted accounts see a smaller social surface), and a monthly spend limit or removing the payment method entirely — the single most effective guard against surprise Robux purchases.
What the platform filters automatically
All chat runs through text and (for voice) audio moderation regardless of settings; phone-number-verified age estimation gates some social features. Restricted accounts also cannot see unfiltered experiences. None of this replaces a conversation — the platform agrees: its own parent materials recommend playing together.
The spending conversation
Robux purchases are the most common parent pain point. Options: gift fixed bundles instead of storing a card, review purchase history in the billing section monthly, and teach the 70/30 creator split so kids understand Robux as a creator economy rather than free money. Our fee calculator was built for exactly that conversation.
