The island crops
Pineapple (regrows every 4... within days of maturity) is the island’s blueberry-analog engine; taro root grows in the wetter pond-adjacent tiles and processes well; banana trees line the borders for daily fruit. All island crops ignore valley seasons — the island has no winter, and its own micro-climate grows valley crops too on tilled sand with the right hydration.
The water problem and the walnuts
Island tiles are sand: ordinary sprinklers do not work until you unlock the island’s own solution — the Golden Walnut-funded watering pipe system waters the whole field automatically. That makes golden walnuts the island’s real progression currency, with the farm unlock as a priority target alongside the dig site.
The island economy
Pineapples in kegs, taro in jars, banana trees for daily gifting fruit, plus island forage and the Gourmand’s cave — the island multiplies every artisan loop you built in the valley. A mature island farm funds the endgame purchases (obelisks, golden clock) that close the game’s economy.
