Stardew Valley Sewer Key Guide — The Rusty Key and the Shadow Campaign

Donate 60 items to the museum for the Rusty Key, then follow the dark talisman chain to the Witch’s swamp.

The Rusty Key

Donate 60 items total to the Museum (minerals and artifacts combined) and Gunter mails you the Rusty Key — it opens the town’s sewer grate. Inside live Krobus (the friendly shadow person who can later become your roommate) and the Statue of Uncertainty for rerolling professions... practically: the Statue of Illusion lets you change professions for 10,000g a try.

The Dark Talisman chain

The sewer also starts the Witch’s questline: the Wizard’s magic ink quest sends you to the Witch’s Hut in the swamp (witch evaporates you without a Dark Talisman), the Goblin problem (give the Goblin a Witch’s... a Void Mayonnaise to pass), and finally the Witch’s Hut interactions that unlock endgame wizardry and the dark shrines.

Why the sewers matter

Krobus as a roommate is one of the game’s most beloved paths (no romance needed — friendship only), the profession reroll is a genuine meta tool, and the swamp chain gates late-game content. The museum donation push that earns the Rusty Key also pairs with the geode processing loop perfectly.
